How it works

A clear model. Clear roles. Built for Texas.

Texas reserves the practice of medicine to physicians. Our structure keeps clinical decisions with the physician-owned practice and puts the business work with Elixir.

Four steps

From agreement to a running clinic

Step 1

Physician owns the practice

A Texas-licensed physician owns the professional entity that delivers care and holds licenses and payer contracts.

Step 2

One management agreement

The practice engages Elixir under a Management Services Agreement that lists every responsibility.

Step 3

Elixir runs operations

We provide the site, equipment, staff, systems and capital, and manage the revenue cycle.

Step 4

Shared results

Monthly reporting, quarterly profit statements and an annual audit right for the physician.

For health systems

A management partner for your urgent care strategy

Hospitals and health systems use management partners to open and run urgent care under their own brand. Elixir can manage operations for system-affiliated clinics or joint ventures.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is an MSO?

A management services organization provides the non-clinical services a medical practice needs, such as billing, staffing, facilities and technology, under a written agreement. The practice stays owned and led by physicians.

Does Elixir own the medical practice?

No. The practice is owned by a Texas-licensed physician. Elixir owns non-clinical assets such as equipment and systems, and provides management services to the practice.

Who makes clinical decisions?

Only the physicians and licensed providers of the practice. Elixir never directs diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, referrals or code selection.

How is Elixir paid?

The practice pays Elixir under the Management Services Agreement for its services, the site and equipment, and working capital. Fees are reviewed against fair market value and are never tied to referrals.

What happens if the physician wants to step away?

Our agreements include a defined notice period and a transition plan so patient care continues and the physician is not left responsible for the business.
